The waste of New York city

Ther is waste. That's for sure. New Yorkers like takeaways and they like it often. You get New York cheese cake served on a plastic plate with a plastic fork. OMG. Are we really at that level where it is cheaper to have oil pulled out of the earth, transported half around the globe, refined, put into forms, carried around half the world again, ending up as fork than to have someone wash dishes?
