A series especially created for an exhibtion "Gegen den Strom" at the "Forum Kunst und Architektur" in Essen, Germany, in 2015.
Gegen den Strom (German for against the stream) means for me to use up more power, overcome more hurdles, and experience much stronger criticism and denial and have less financial gain than colleagues swimming with the stream. Serigraphy (silk screens) and interactive electronic is my expression of choice. Interactive electronic art provides more possibilities to create and research outstanding unique modern art, art no one has ever produced before.
With the “are you here”-series I scrutinize the physical and virtual presence of the viewer and therefore ask for his point of view. For which position does he decide: with or against the stream?
During that exhibtion a photographer supposed that I am from the Folkwang University. He said "Your graphics are that good. Are you from the Folkwang?".
